Artist Statement
My work stems from my interest in the well-being of the human condition and its dependency on the interrelationships between the individual, the family, the community and the universal environment in which we exist. I draw on my own life experiences as a basis for my work in an attempt to strengthen our understanding of each other to encourage positive interactions.
I utilise my initial training in traditional sculpture methods to explore and develop my own style of self expression in a variety of materials.
For the last two decades I have been interested in sculpture, initially working for one day per week under the guidance of Betsy Kramer, a respected classical sculptor. In 2003 I relocated to London and had the opportunity to dedicate myself fulltime to sculpture where I undertook a four year Post Graduate Diploma in Fine Arts at the Art Academy in Southwark, London.
I returned to New Zealand in 2011 and established a studio/workshop in the Wairarapa region. My work continues to be exhibited internationally.
